What materials can be cut with diamond drills and saws?

A broad range of materials can be cut with diamond drills and saws, including concrete, brickwork, asphalt, and marble. Due to its excellent versatility, high precision, and non-percussive nature, diamond drilling and sawing can be used for a wide spectrum of jobs and for multiple different industries.

We work with many types of blades and drill bits with our drilling and sawing services, allowing for not only the formation of multiple opening sizes, but also for the no-hassle drilling of a variety of materials, including:

  • Masonry
  • Concrete
  • Asphalt
  • Porcelain & ceramics
  • Marble, granite & limestone
  • Slate, stone & rock

Certain types of diamond drill bit are more suited for specific types of materials than others – consult with a diamond drilling professional such as ourselves to discover more about our capabilities and the suitability of the work you are looking to do.

We do not provide diamond drilling and sawing services on the following materials:

  • Metal
  • Soft wood
  • Soft plastics
  • Plaster

These materials are too soft to use a diamond drill or diamond saw on and other drilling methods are more suitable.

Diamond drilling is being sought across multiple commercial sectors, thanks to its flexibility of application and ability to generate a broad range of opening sizes. The unique design of the drill bits means that instead of chipping the material, it grinds carefully in order to make a clean hole or opening.

Key benefits of diamond drilling are:

  • Clean and precise cutting
  • Less heat generation
  • Lightweight handling
  • Faster drilling speed
  • Less likelihood of chipping
  • Better quality of finish
  • No dust generated thanks to water suppression
  • Low noise output

In the hands of a professional diamond drilling company, this technique can achieve quality, long-lasting results for any size or scale of endeavour.

Our team predominantly work with concrete, brickwork and asphalt, but we will consider enquiries for most types of material. If you want to find out more about diamond drilling please contact us or take a look at our resource centre – we operate across the UK.

Statistically, construction is the most dangerous job to have in the UK. Out of all fatal injuries at work, construction workers make up over a quarter of these deaths. Construction is also one of the largest industries in the UK, employing more people than other sectors, but the rate of deaths is still disproportionately large.

Since its inception, diamond drilling has been a fundamental part of the mining industry and subterranean exploration in general. Without the vital information gathered from core samples, mines all over the world could not be explored or worked. On top of this, many of the world’s largest structures, such as buildings, bridges and dams, could.
